A good app with plenty of comics on offer and regular sales. However there are some cons- downloads are very slow and run even slower in the background. Meaning you can't do anything until they're complete. Also comix unlimited is not available everywhere and so it feels like a missed opportunity. This is Amazon who have a worldwide presence, there is no excuse.
Edit 2: Fixed all the issues I had with it awhile ago. Functions perfectly now! Edit: Didn't think it could get worse, but now I can't download books on my Galaxy S6. I even tried reinstalling. ORIGINAL: When Amaxon initially bought it I was unaffected unlike the iOS people, but then you made me merge my Comixology and Amazon account and royally screwed up the system. Now I'm constantly being signed out. In the old days I logged in once on a device and I was good indefinitely. Now I'm prompted to sign in on my tablet when I have no Wifi!! Fix this!
Still utterly US centric. Pushing Unlimited subscription, then when you try to activate, it gives a US customers only error. As if getting upgrade messages and banners isn't frustrating enough, to have to see it when it's a product you WANT when it's not available in your region is infuriating.
Barely find out about the app, so far really nice and easy to use. Some comics could be pricy even tho their digital copies. Haven't tried the unlimited yet so with the prices some comics are could be good idea. My only real complaint is that comics take quite a while to download.
The Guided View sold me on the app. It's not reading a slides of PDF pages, but GV takes you up close to every frame of the comic, and, at times, closer to words. Plus, Comixology throws sales every week, and bigger sales when new comic-inspired movies hit theaters.
Ok So I started the free trial. So Far there are things I can borrow but the titles I wanna read are for purchase only. So will I be able to read anything (Everything) I want once I start making monthly payments? Still figuring out how this works. All and All its a great App.
Brilliant idea. Far too many bugs though, I've been unable to buy books several times because of login issues between Comixology/Amazon/American Amazon. As much as I love the app, I'm not willing to contact support every time I want to give you money
I'm a little disappointed. I thought we can sign up with our Google account. I don't even have an Amazon account and I tried reading comics without signing in, but it says to pay now yet this app is voted #2 for top FREE comics
I don't like it . expectly if i have pay. . .better off using this comic app call webtoon. All comic is free and you can read all kinds of comic books free. Free is webtoon have awesome picture sound graphic and etc. . .FREE. ( who doesn't like free. . .nobody. . .free is awesome)
Was excited to use Comixology on my new Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 . Put in a 128GB SD card to hold my purchased comic collection since the tablet has only 16GB internal storage. It turns out Comixology does not support external storage so I am limited to what can be carried on my device to read. Comic selection and reading is great but no full stars until this glaring SD card issue is rectified. Oddly enough SD card support seems to be one of the most requested options Comixology need to implement. Fast-forward to 3 years later and yes, finally... SD card support! 5 stars now. Update: knocking one star off for the extremely slow download speed.
Overall, it is an excellent app. But after the most recent update, it no longer writes to the internal storage on my Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ running Cyanogen Mod for an OS. Although that device is older, its glorious hi-res 9.8 inch screen is perfect for reading comics. i exchanged several emails with Comixology support, and they were very responsive and polite, but ultimately were not able to solve the problem. I have uninstalled the newest update and re-installed an older version in order to be able to continue running the Comixology Comics app on my Nook HD+. If the problem can ever be solved, I will give the app 5 stars instead of 3.
Great app, could be better. Particularly on my phone the downloads only actually do download when I'm in the app, otherwise it's just a stagnant notification bar, and even in the app the downloads take far too long for the file size over my connection speed. Using a Note 8.
Had a bit of trouble getting payments to work at first but once I got it working this app has been a dream come true, works beautifully over multipledevices. Very impressed, love it.
BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!!!! At last I can finally download to my SD card in my Aquaris M10 tablet and no longer have to constantly delete books that I've read so I can download another to my meagre 16GB internal storage! For me this is a the best upgrade that Comixology could have provided as before I pretty much had to strip my tablet of apps and solely use it for reading comics on due to the space issue and the option of saving comics to an SD card not being available before. This is truly the best early Christmas present I've had this year! (Yes, I agree with everyone who has said that downloads can be slow but I'm guessing because these are graphic heavy files they are going to be big and I'd rather have good quality crisp images than smaller and more inferior ones. So for me it's an annoyance worth putting up with.)
Good for purchasing from the Comixology store, and I bought it to read my entire collection. Really useful now that my inventory can be stored on multiple SD cards that I can swap in and out. I used to hold less than 3Gb of comics on my tablet, which I specifically bought because (a) it was the same size as a comic book page and (b) took SD cards up to 128 Gb, so about two dozen hold the bulk of my collection. The wonderful folks at Comixology have listened to us and now offer the choice "Save files on Device or on SD card?" Wahoooooo!
Love guided view. I wish there was a better way to zoom in and out and still be able to turn pages without awkward gesturing but oh well. Great library but prices are a little steep. It would be nice if you could get a discount on buying a whole series or something. Overall, good experience.
So, I like comics, but not enough to PAY real MONEY ($$$$$) for then. there are more FREE comic book apps then ever so why would you pay for one. Don't get this app it's not worth it in less you like paying for stuff you don't like And if u don't like to pay for stuff you don't need to don't get this app it's not worth it. Don't let amizon cheat you
Signed up for a free trial months back. Tried to cancel after the trial because I never used it, but every time I tried logging in to cancel they said oops and error has occurred try again later. So this company has been charging my credit card for months and I would never use this company again.
Its the worst. Don't say free comics and manga when you have to pay for the comic or a subscription. I have two real free apps I'll let you keep this stupid one
Downloads take forever... as mentioned by a few other users. Can't zoom out to see double sided pages on fixed format. The translations of manga are really good, but everything is a pretty pricey in general. Unfortunately the unlimited option is only available to Americans.
Reasonable comic viewer, but incredibly frustrating user interface. Every time you do something else the app resets to the comixology store home page, and to get back to what you were reading you have to wait for the app to sync your library every single time. Making it terrible to read comics on the go!
This is an Amazing app for Major Comic book fans and even those who are still a little new to the whole Comic Scene. I was trying to find a good place to read comics without HAVING to pay for a while but could never find somewhere that didn't require a credit card number to enter, but here I'm able to read what ever series I wanted no matter who published them, And it's not JUST Limited to comics, but Graphic Novels and Manga as well.
In my opinion the best comic book app out. I love the feeling of a comic book but if I can't find an issue or it's unaffordable for me, this is a great way to read what I can't get.
The town I live in that doesn't have a comicbook store, so this is the best way for me to keep up to date with not just the two big publishers (DC and Marvel) but I get to see other great studios too.
Had a hiccup with setting up the payemnt. The app directs you poorly on mobile where you need to introduce the info. Pretty tricky. Once working it's awesome!
Great app. It is now my main source for comics, was getting worried about piling up books in my library just to box them in a couple of months when I inevitably move houses again. Now I don't have to worry about that as I have everything on my tablet. Download is still a bit slow and sometimes I have to restart the download all together which can be a bit annoying. Would be nifty if the search feature would be more inclusive as right now it only works for titles or creators, would be nice if it gave you genres, themes or styles of animation in the search bar. Other than that I recommend it "bigly", especially for the constant sales and extensive content (My wish list is CRAZY at the moment).
Yes now I hate it not able to download comics i tried to download a free comic now it's shown 8% and it's not downloaded yet whats the problem is it with the app you have to improve its experience please try to solve it I hope that you would respond to this
Finally the SD Card Support! Reverting my rating from 3 Stars to 5 Stars! I've finally can reread my downloaded comics without worrying about space! Good job for listening to what is logic for the user.
It's a great app. My only complaint is you can see lines on the expanded pages. I think it started when Amazon affiliated itself with Comixology.
I didn't like it at all. I can't sign in with my Google account and when I try to make a Amazon account it will tell me the same thing over and over please make it possible to just sign in with your Google account
I been using this app for about 3years now, and it is awesome! I switched from physical comics to digital comics because of this app. No more boxes of comics! I can read my comics when I want and where I want. It's not a over exaggeration when I say this app change my life.
Awesome! The sales on this app are great! Love those "buy one get on free" sales. One recommendation: maybe a monthly calendar of projected sales/events so I can plan accordingly. Other than that, love the easy access to all things comics.
This app is a very affordable way to collect digital comics in this new age. Guided view works very well. Comics look good on both tablet and phone. Very easy to have access to your comics wherever you are!
The cinematic guided view is my new favorite feature when reading my comics. I have been using this app for years and it has only continued to get better. Currently reading through Rick and Morty and enjoying the experience.
I like the selection the app offers over all, however for phone use I think the Guided view interface is a little to touchy.
I used to be a big physical copy person but since comixology a have migrated to all digital. Having my favorite books right at my fingertips is amazing, and it keeps the cluster down at home.
The absolute best comic reader app in the world! I only wish the would include a premium tier for members that want motion comics with narrative dialogue... I know I would pay $5-8 for motion comics hands down!!
The app has always been very good but it's finally 5 star worthy now that comics can be stored on an sd card (as of november 2017 on android 7.0)
Amazing way to read comics in your phone on the go. There are some download issues with comics though. Usually just cancel and redownload and everything will be fine.
Please add the option to choose black boarders instead of white. It will make it easier read at nightime. Also a notification when things in your wishlist are on sale would be nice.
