Newtown Rugby League FC

Newtown Rugby League Football Club was formed on January 8, 1908, at an overflow public meeting in the Newtown Town Hall.

The Club is very proud of its special heritage and the fact that it is the oldest Rugby League football club in Australia.

The Newtown Jets play out of Henson Park in Marrickville and are one of the marquee teams in the NSW Rugby League’s flagship competition, the NSW Cup. They are one of the best supported and most widely known teams in this competition and a Newtown home game at Henson Park on a wintry Saturday afternoon is a definitive Sydney cultural experience.

The Club remains a Rugby League proving ground - a fact well demonstrated by the number of players who have played for Newtown and gone on to success with NRL clubs.

After nine years with the Sydney Roosters, theJets are in their first year of a three-year partnership with the Cronulla Sharks whereby the Jets act as a feeder club to their NRL ally.

The club has come up with some fantastic ideas and innovative plans to ensure the strength of the club continues long in to the future.

One of the main areas the club was looking to improve on was the way in which it was currently communicating with its players, members, supporters and sponsors.

With a forward thinking and a dynamic board the club was actively pursuing different methods which would enable them to improve on their existing communication channels.

After conducting a review of all the options available to them the club is pleased to announce the release of their first ever native mobile phone app for the iPhone.

The app will be branded in the famous colours of the Newtown Rugby League Football Club and the content available to users in the app will contain information about the club.
