About T3LAB Fall Detector
Fall Detector application allows to send alarm messages when the user falls down. The monitoring of danger of fall is available by placing the smartphone at the waist level. For additional information, please visit our website: http://www.t3lab.it/progetti/alfa/.
DETAILS
The alarm is sent, as a text message, to mobile phones of people in a user emergency contact list. Optionally, the message may contain information about the user's GPS location and an emergency call may be started. We developed the fall detection algorithm, starting from one we chose in literature and tuning it by the results of a testing session. We carried on tests on eleven subjects, using an experimental protocol composed of different types of fall events and different types of daily activities. The results highlighted the low rate of false positives and false negatives of the algorithm.
TESTING SCENARIO
- configure the application settings as you like;
- for the proper use of the application place the device at waist level;
- place a mattress or an airbag on which to fall;
- according to acceleration, speed and end position (lying on the floor) of the user during the phase of fall, an emergency alarm will be automatically sent to your contacts.

I installed this app on my phone, when I first turned it on, all of a sudden I started getting messages, this application is sending multiple SMS's. Was given the option to Deny or Allow, I pressed Deny, yet again, the app said is sending multiple SMS's, Deny or Allow, I kept pressing Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, Deny, the application seemed to be locked. I then tried turning my phone off, but the app wouldn't allow it. I ended up having to removed the battery and replaced it I then uninstalled the app. When I got home my partner who I had listed as my emergency contact had over 315 SMS's from my phone. Even after the app had been uninstalled he has kept on get emergency messages from my phone, which has now run me up bill of $100AUD It is a buggy EXPENSIVE app.
