About Neighbourly

Neighbourly is the free and private neighbourhood app for New Zealand that creates an easy way for neighbours to talk and share online.

Members use Neighbourly to create free and private websites for their suburbs to exchange advice, find and make recommendations for local services, share events, sell or give away unwanted items, discuss local crime, locate lost pets and ultimately get to know one another. Join Neighbourly and help build a stronger, safer and friendlier place to call home.

Safe and Secure
Each member of Neighbourly must use their real name and verify their address so you can trust who you’re sharing information with. Neighbourly accounts are also password protected and encrypted. Information shared on Neighbourly will never show up in Google or other search engines - nor will it be shared with advertisers.

You can use Neighbourly to:
• Plan a street party
• Alert your community to a spate of vehicle break-ins
• Share a photo of a visiting dog to locate owner
• Discuss what impact Local Council plans will have on the neighbourhood
• Recommend a trustworthy local mechanic or a great plumber
• Ask when the roadworks down by the local park will be complete
• Grab the contact details of a good local babysitter
• Find out which cafe in the area has the best Eggs Benny
• Share sporting cancellations and updates
• Sell an unused sofa
• Let neighbours know mail has been stolen
• Ask if anyone can loan a ladder
• Organise a neighbourhood watch group
• Ask for times of the walking school bus
• Discuss local charities and how to get involved

"Every tech product under the sun seems aimed at teenagers these days – it’s nice to see something for everyone else" - Henry Cooke, Sunday News

"Neighbourly is a great tool for drawing the community together. I already knew I lived in a vibrant area and Neighbourly expresses this every day through every post." - Simon O'Connor, MP for Tamaki

"Just a quick message to say that the app is superb. Brilliant styling and the look and feel is on the money. Very impressive." - Kelvin James, Auckland

Having more fun on here these days. Sometimes things aren't clear but it works. Like if a picture is gonna be big or small I can't tell when I post it. And I don't think other's realise I'm just using a phone app when they're on the website version on their computer. There is no way to comment on your neighbours morals. No feedback on sellers or free stuff. So if someone sold something dodgy previously you would have no idea. I have had zero answers from jobs advertised and after a lady saying I could pick up an item the next day, she then went and gave it too someone else! Frustrating that I can't warn others against these people. Also my replies go to odd places in a conversation rather than where I submitted it. It's a bit lagging now too.

Only gripe is the inability to read the leader from the phone app

Q70%

Find it rather confusing neighborly is suppose to mean around your area not around nz

Q70%

Great for up to date info with the neighbourhood and surrounding areas,

Awesome everyone in New Zealand needs to download the neighbourly app.

Bullying behaviour and promotion of viral misinformation to endanger health and safety- moderators (neighbourly leads) promote their political views rather than looking at evidence dispassionately. Promotes illegal selling which puts health and safety at risk. Not willing to look into these issues and take them seriously. Expected there would be some quality control of posts but instead any feedback was taken down. The whole app needs to look at its purpose... if it is to promote relationships within communities it cannot do that in contravention of the laws that protect those communities. Neighbourhood leads must have a quality control role removing posts which refer to demonstrably untrue viral assertions or sales that endanger public safety.

Useful tool and resource but a commercialized ad loaded piece of junk with little to no moderation on spam. Could be great but devs want it to be a money making venture. They are forgetting the purpose of the platform and are neglecting the sites main purpose by doing so. Have started development of my own social network to resolve the issues on this site. Also severe privacy breach by showing sensitive personal information such as address. This should by default be hidden without having to go to settings. This is a serious crime and safety issue.

G70%

Overall good but with some usability issues here and there. Businesses page lists all businesses with no way to filter them by category?? Search seems different to website as a simple search term results in nearly nothing where the website returns the opposite.

Q70%
by Q####:

I think it's ok more community information be great for people in low economic life styles for example salvation army food banks budget resources etc

O70%
by O####:

Quite invasive for a message board service. Have your driver licence, and a named addressed bill at the ready ?!?!

Q70%
by Q####:

Because i dont own our car, it wont let me continue my sign in details

A70%
by A####:

A helpful utility service made for the digital age that makes life so much easier for neighbours and close-knits the community.

M70%
by M####:

Why are you showing me inorganic posts from areas I can't comment on or reply? What is actually the point??

Q70%
by Q####:

Used on Samsung A5 2017 Faulty personal and member's information: no info about location, street or map for any member. Also, doesn't show posts with my replies in My posts, settings changing doesn't help. I placed 'my replies' and still got my own posts only on the list. It doesn't show my replies if I go to a post where I commented but in fact the reply is still there what I can see from my laptop.

Q70%
by Q####:

Many commercials and asks too many and unnecessary private details. Cannot change the wrong spelling from own name and it is impossible to delete your account once you have created it.

Q70%
by Q####:

If I get a notification about a post I've replied to, and I tap this, it doesn't open the post I was notified about, but rather whatever has happened in neighbourly most recently. Therefore the app gets only a 3*.

Q70%
by Q####:

After all this time this Android app is still rubbish. Deleting today hopeless, still doesn't match up with main system.

V70%
by V####:

Absolutely hate this app - needs way too many personal details, and just spams you with notifications, emails, text messages, and physical mail.
