WGBH, News and Culture for Android
Before this update the app would just randomly stop playing at least it would start again. Now it just crashes and stops. When the phone goes to the home screen it stops playing. If you playback a pre-recorded podcast and use the slider to advance it freezes. Epic fail wgbh!
There seems to be no way of searching through available content. If you know the content but not the program you need to wade through the program listings manually. Rated 2 stars for the available content. This UI designed by jācapps needs a makeover. The designer needs to take some chances and add some features. The current functions are sparse and chunky. There are many good examples among public radio apps that make public radio a portable essential. This is not one.
It works, but awkward interface and it can't even rotate for device in landscape mode.
App stops streaming sporadically. Needs a sleep timer! Inelegant interface.
App stops playing the stream sporadically.
Like many other reviews, I am experiencing random pauses of the audio streaming.. other than that I like it..
Good
Great station but this isn't an app it's a wrapper for the site. Lazy. JacApps make pretty lame media apps unfortunately.
My use of the app is mainly to listen to the Celtic Sojourn, a radio program, while I'm engaged in other activities, such as dinner preparation. So, app's inability to cast the program's audio stream to better speakers than my smartphone has is a significant drawback for me.
It's awesome!
The current content's OK, but I was ticked when most of the jazz programs were booted off the programming on radio. Add some jazz to one of your streams & I'll be a happy sustainer.
This is my local NPR station but this app takes around a minute to start playing it. No time for that when I need a quick fix on the go. Three stars for content. Come on, you can do better. Oh, and it looks 2009ish. This is 2016!
You need to make it a: 100% SD CARD APP for storage conservation! Thanks for taking the time to consider this important proposal... PAX
This is not a pretty app to look at, or use, but it does play wgbh like it says it does. The good point is that you can turn the screen off and still stream audio the bad point is that it lacks chromecast support (which all android, audio or video, apps should have)
This app provides only a small fraction of the content on the WGBH website, which is not mobile-friendly. It looks well made, but it has no reason for existence. I uninstalled it almost immediately.
Installed it twice and still couldn't get it to open.

This is my local NPR station but the app used to be mediocre. After the update today it's perfect. You get the news headlines and radio play button on one screen. The stream is rock solid. Bravo!
