Peel Universal Smart TV Remote Control

Changed my review from 5 stars to 1 after these awful ads and updates that just made this app trash. I figured I'd just purchase it but it's a monthly fee??? I'll just use my remote or a different app.

App got worse! It wants to connect to my brother's xbox WHEN I AM NOT EVEN AT HOME. Beforehand, this app went from annoying with the widget to frustrating and horrible with the full screen ads that play music when my phone is on silent. It constantly interrupts me when I am using my phone for what a phone is meant to be used for like making calls or using apps that I actually downloaded!

It was a nice app, but paying a monthly fee to remove adds, plus that it doesn't seem to be able to pick up either Virgin Media or Sky makes it useless. I used to be able to select Sky but now I'm on Virgin I can't. It also doesn't appear to be able to use either PS4, so apart from using it to turn on my sound bar it's next to useless. As others have said the Ads are annoying, they take up a lot of screen space and it seems they're done that way to make you pay the monthly removal sub. Have recently upgraded to Galaxy Note 8 and the remote doesn't work with the phone unless all of your devices are connected via a network connection.

Enjoy using this as a universal remote. Its also the only remote I have for my 80's receiver. Recent updates have forced always present remote widgets that you cant turn off. Got in the way of thinks like my on screen keyboard. Forced to disable this app.

such an annoying useless app that won't go away.. can not uninstall. if there's any reason to go to iPhone the app will make me go there. PLEASE android get rid

It wont connect to my sharp tv. There are no instructions on how to connect a sharp tv i had this app years ago and it worked okay with the same tv. I mean all i could use were the power channel and volume buttons but it worked. How does an app go backwards like this? What are you guys doing?!?! Whats your agenda?!?! To get urself on everyones phones when it may or may not work on everyones tv. Id go as far as calling this app spam. I shouldnt have to spend 2 hours configuring my tv for a simple app to work to find nothing in the end. i cant even select a tv brand so it could look for sharp tvs only.dont reply to this review unless the issue is fixed. Im pretty much ready to throw my phone into my tv with all my force. Get it together you guys are working backwards if working at all. Im frustrated that my patience with this app is completely gone. I absolutely hate this app. Not only do I not use it, but it was completely invisible until the last few updates, which have now made it create pop ups that only serve to irritate me at every turn, like plugging/unplugging my phone to charge, in which case full page ads appear. Being built in, I can't exactly get rid of it without likely causing some problems with the phone itself, so that's something that really riles me up. It's useless, it's irritating, and I can't disable any of its "features". Please, for the love of god, let us either uninstall it completely or have it as an optional thing, because it is driving me insane.

Peel was preloaded on my phone so I can't remove it. Ads which pop up at random and get in the way of what you're doing is not cool. Avoid like the plague

It's ok. Works for my air conditioners, but you can't use the "mode" button. Doesn't connect to any of my tv's. They aren't listed on. Also you have to close the app completely to get out of some of the screens. The back button won't work.

Was great until the last update. After last update, widget showed up on bottom of my screen and won't move. I can't even use my keyboard like normal!

The remote keeps popping up on the lock screen at the very bottom of the screen so whenever I want to use the fingerprint sensor I accidentally turn of the TV. I turned off the permission to be on the lock screen but it's still there and still annoying.

Love it! The only complaint that I have is to have to scroll down to access some buttons. If there was a way to somehow customise the button sizes then it would be really well.

This app keeps popping up unnecessarily. I don't have a television and I don't need a remote control. I want to uninstall this app but it is built into the operating system... Aaaaaaaaargh!

Forced ads for an app that is pre-installed Into the update even when you don't use the damn thing the ads keep popping up, greedy and unreasonable

You guys are nonsense even in s6 edge ads are coming soo much. This app is inbuilt in s6 edge then why you guys are asking for paid version. Gone crack or what.

Tons of ads, because there aren't enough on tv. I'll stick with an actual remote. Shame this is a built in asp because I'd rather have the free space.

BEST by far! I've tried pretty much ALL of the other universal remote apps. but most required me to buy this or that. Not this one. Works great & NO ADS! Yay! Right? LOL

Suddenly I have something called Tap associated with this app, I don't want an extra useless app on my phone, but when I remove it it removes Peel! That's fishy!

This app spams ads without warning, the buttons obscure my main phone buttons and cant be removed and wont uninstall!

This app pops up fullscreen ads at random. It reinstalls itself with each new OS update. I don't even use it but I can't get rid of it. BS.

Can't seem to make it work and worst of all I can't uninstall it as it came with my device :(

If i do not need it, it should not bother me on lock screen. Too bad i cant uninstall.

It was forcibly installed once and I uninstalled it. It has been reinstalled AGAIN without my consent. If I want your app, I will install it myself. Please stop installing this app on my phone.

It will install on my galaxy 8 active but it will not get past the fact I have no Wi-Fi products to control. I have used this app on my 6 active and it controlled my tv great but no so lucky on the 8 active

Why does your f$@king app keep getting installed on my phone. I don't want it.

Doesn't work with my favorite brand Vizio. But I will await further response from the developers of this app. In the past it worked great with my HTC One's. But now I have a Samsung Note 8.

This app is great but when i try to open the AC it doesn't work .

Forces you to have Wi-Fi. The old version didn't. Never needed Wi-Fi before. What if your tv isn't hooked up to Wi-Fi. PEEL you suck.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7. I purchased the Pronto device a year or so ago and it worked great. I recently had to reset my phone and now it will NOT pair with my phone though it does see it as an available device.

This is the most annoying and unwanted of apps....ever!!!

How do I stop this app from being in my life?

Update 2: good lord, more unadvertised "features." This time it's a battery saver. Why does a remote control app need to have a battery saver or a lock screen replacement? Pops up over any app when battery drops to 35%. There is no indication that it is related to the Peel app in any way. This is super shady. Why does Peel not list this in their changelog? Are you embarrassed about your "features"? Why not put the Peel logo on the battery saver pop-up? It's because you're ashamed of yourselves isn't it? I DO NOT WANT ADDED SPAM ON MY PHONE. ARE YOU LISTENING SAMSUNG? Please remove this from system apps! Update: Peel's reply is that this is a "feature". If it was then they would have put the Peel logo on it so I didn't have to take an hour to figure out which app infected my phone. They also say it can be disabled. It can be temporarily "muted". If Peel was proud of this "feature" they would put it in the changelog and the description, but they are not proud of it so they hide that they have anything to do with it. Embarrassing. So Peel added ads, then added a subscription to remove ads. Isn't that sweet? How about instead of these horrible ads that ruin my phone, you add a subscription for tv listings. There are honorable business models out there, especially when you have a good product. This used to be a five star app. Now this app is an obstacle in my workflow and I wish I could give it negative stars. -----original review below----- Wow, latest update includes unbranded full screen ads that popup everytime you plug or unplug your phone. Completely obnoxious. Thanks Peel and Samsung, never expected this garbage from a bundled app that can't be uninstalled. Not a good look Samsung. I am embarrassed for you. Needs WiFi to work.no good. Can't hot spot either.
