About D&D Lords of Waterdeep

Wizards of the Coast and Playdek present the award-winning Dungeons & Dragons board game Lords of Waterdeep!

Welcome to Waterdeep, the City of Splendors! A city run by a secret society of masked Lords who rule with shady back-door dealings and unmatched political power. In Lords of Waterdeep players will play as one of these masked Lords and will need to recruit adventurers to go out and complete quests for them. The more quests they complete, the more control and influence they have over the city.

Players can expand the city by purchasing buildings that will open up new opportunities within the city walls. Intrigue cards can be used to help the player and may also either help or hinder their fellow Lords in their quest to become the supreme ruler of Waterdeep!

Lords of Waterdeep is a turn-based strategy game played in 8 rounds and can be played against AI or with up to 5 human players. Players take turns assigning their agents to do their bidding, whether it is to recruit new adventurers to their tavern or purchase a new building for the city. Points and resources are gained by completing quests, playing Intrigue cards, constructing new buildings or having other players utilize the buildings you have constructed. At the end of the 8 rounds bonus points are awarded and the player with the most points at the end wins the game.

Lack of notifications on Android 8.0 makes multiplayer super annoying...

S70%
by S####:

I have one of those notifications (red circle w/ white number on top right of app) and I have clicked EVERYWHERE on the app, in the app itself and I don't know how to make it go away. I have turned off notifications in the app itself and on my phone so any advice is appreciated. Other than that...it's one of my favorite apps to date

I own and have played the actual board game many times, so I feel like I'm not a beginner player. However, the AI on this game is simply too hard. Even on the "easy" setting, it is virtually impossible to win a game against the computer even if you play optimally, or pretty close to it. It gets to the point where, although it's a great game and well-implemented, it's frustrating to play since you can rarely, if ever, win.

Love it! I bought it for myself on my Nvidia Shield K1, bought a copy for my mom, and also installed it on my LG G5. Runs great on all of them. My only comaint is that all the expansion stuff is locked out on my LG G5, amd when I go to the in-app store, it shows the expansions for sale but says I already own them. Is there any way to synch the in-app purchases so my phone can access the expansion content? Thanks for making this!

K70%
by K####:

3 stars for now. When it runs I love it but on my LG Gpad F second generation I have tried to play about 10 times. I can't make it past the first round without it crashing. Once that is fixed 5 stars all the way.

I was pretty excited to see this game available for Android. I have the board game and the expansions (plus a Broken Token organizer insert, upgraded metal coins and Meeples instead of cubes). Needless to say...this digital version is a fantastic replica of the actual board game. My only "complaint" (which is minor) is that the music that plays during the set up or load screens is very repetitive. However is isn't a problem at all during the game. All in all...it plays great on my ZTE Warp Elite phone and I look forward to eventually playing it on my tablet as a bigger screen would be most welcome. Highly recommended!

So I had a issue installing the game, and getting it to load. Left a review and the devs responded straight away with a solution. So far the game seems awesome! Devs: thank you so much for the help, crazy fast response!

K70%
by K####:

Very disappointed, app hangs on black screen and doesn't open. Need to set permissions manually to get it to work. That's a one star effort guys.

K70%
by K####:

Cannot enable Android notifications. Can't change animation speed. Would be nice if I could skip the animations that show what the other players did on their turns because it eats into my clock on short games. The game exits to the lobby when I switch apps and has to reconnect to server when I go back. Edit: Android notifications have been fixed in version 2.0.2. Adding a star. Animation issues persist, but will be fixed in next update. Server issue persists and no word on a fix.

I was really excited to try this out as I have heard good things about LoW, but never have had the chance to play it. Unfortunately, it will not open on my phone. It only open a blank, black screen.

K70%
by K####:

Great game and for those of you who have a black screen problem it says to reinstall the app. I did it and now I play a very nice board game.

K70%
by K####:

Great game. Last update included much needed notifications. Runs a little slow, even on a (somewhat) newer phone. But overall, good job.

K70%
by K####:

AI even on harder mode not challenging enough. They do not compete for the quest of their Lord as they are supposed to. Also found a bug, you can't send your incomplete mandatory quest to an opponent with one of the atack cards (and they had corruption). It doesn't let you select a quest.

T70%
by T####:

Very bad set up You cant navigate through the game without massive fustration I want a refund

K70%
by K####:

Great implementation. The one thing that consistently trips me up is the actions that are taken the grey player are hard to distinguish from actions that haven't been taken yet.

K70%
by K####:

Sometimes the game board view can get a little skewy due to tye pinch and spread view controls, but this is a very minor point and mostly due to my stubby fingers.

K70%
by K####:

Love the game, but does anyone know why the Android notifications option is greyed out? Update: Notification all work great now.

Y70%
by Y####:

Notifications are broken after upgrade to Android Oreo 8.0.0. I already updated to 2.0.2. Still broken.

Would love to play this game, the boardgame version was always fun. But the screen stays black on a Google pixel XL device. I will correct my rating when this issue gets fixed.

O70%

This is a downgrade from the apple version hopefully they will fix the issues

Very good game with a UI that's difficult to use. Still worth buying.

Great job with this port to Android! I purchased it on iOS back in the day and love in this version all the nice little UI updates you've put in.

Love it! Great game! Runs well on Nexus tablets and phones !

My wife and I love playing this. I have it in my Family Library so that we can share and play together. My only real gripe is that we bought the expansions but I cannot seem to get them to share across the Family Library. If there was a way to share this across the Family Library this would be a 5. Edit: Fair enough. If it is a system limitation then there is no reason this shouldn't be a 5

K70%
by K####:

Everything is great and just like the real thing. Love the card artwork. AI is challenging for me. Just one minor issue. The animation speed control does not seem to work. The ai turns are going a bit too fast. Is this a bug?

K70%
by K####:

A perfect adaptation of the board game and a great way to play it during commutes or downtimes with coworkers, family or friends alike. Let's hope this opens the gate for more expansions and new quests in the not-too-distant future. Highly recommended for board game enthusiasts and fans of the Forgotten Realms' most amazing city!

Q70%
by Q####:

Update took an excellent rendition of the board game and made it all but unplayable. I was playing daily for years and unfortunately it looks like that will stop, immediately. Very disappointing. Basic operational mechanics, such as opening and viewing quests, for example, have now become so tedious as to make the game only a source of frustration. Highly recommend against this now, despite loving the game.

K70%
by K####:

Amazing game, and finally on android. However, the text is really small, difficult to read, and the new camera angle is not very intuitive. All in all though, it's still an amazing game and a decent port. At this price, it's a no-brainer

K70%
by K####:

Well done and faithful implementation of the boardgame. Good AI strength, multiplayer is well supported. Visually is excellently rendered. You may want to shut off the audio. The music is repetitive though not too intrusive. There are some sound files that sound like placeholder files were left behind - instead of instrumental music cues, there are what sound like the game's developers humming little tunes. Controls are probably better on tablets, very fiddly on phones. Overall a good buy.

This app doesn't work on my Google Pixel after installing Android Oreo. I tried fiddling with several app permissions without luck.

I cannot install on my Google Pixel. Love the app on iPad, but want to use on phone.
