About Five Hundred

500 is a classic card game that requires strategy, patience, a good memory and occasionally a bit of luck. Download and play this game for free.

The game is called 500 because the first team to reach a total score of at least 500 points wins. The game can be lost by a team losing 500 or more points.

This game features automated players with varying levels of ability, ensuring that the game is suitable for all levels of experience. Players new to the game, are able to practice , more experienced players get the challenge of tackling the more aggressive automated players.

Features
Animated movements of the cards around the screen,
Simple and intuitive controls to control the game,
A choice of partners,
A choice of opposition,
Options to configure the rules of the game. These include, the options to play with a 3 or 5 card kitty, the option to restrict when a misere or open-misere bid can be made, the option to limit the maximum number of points that can be accumulated when collecting tricks against the bidder.

The option to continue with a previous game.

About the developer.
I learnt to play 500 at school and enjoy playing now when I find willing opposition. I developed this game because I wanted a 500 app that is fun and intuitive to play and has a user experience similar to when you play with a group of friends.

I will be continuing to develop and improve this app, as my time allows. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions you have.

Great game

Why does the good hands go to the computer partner?

N70%
by N####:

I learned how to play in 2 days, I now understand the concept. I just don't like that sometimes I forget what my bid was especially if you had to bid multiple times. Your bid gets cover up by your tricks received. But overall Great Game!

N70%
by N####:

Despite the negative comments, I've found this game perfect. Tricks taken and general execution of play so far has been excellent and no fault can be found. I played 500 regularly many years ago and this brings back fond memories. Highly recommended.

Z70%
by Z####:

DON'T bid just to let your partner know what you have when he has already passed. DON'T try to clear trumps when leading from the non-makers hand. DON'T trump a lead your partner has indicated he may have the ace for. Simple rules we learn early.

I70%
by I####:

Play card covers the bid called. The cards are too close together, fingers hit the incorrect card at times.

N70%
by N####:

Good graphic user interface but terrible strategy.

N70%
by N####:

Keeps leading trumps when other side makes it even if doesn't have the master.sometimes outbids me.

N70%
by N####:

Good game but my partner's bidding is a litle off. Often bids 7 or 8 when he doesn't have the joker and neither bauer.

You should have a subscription model to allow removal if adverts. Thanks for making this game btw!

N70%
by N####:

You are telling me that there is no way to sort your cards?

N70%

Love this version of 500. Very cool

N70%
by N####:

It's quick and fun.

Most everything about this app is decent, except the bidding ability of ALL computer players. Their play is decent, with some quarks but they often bid when it's obvious they shouldn't. And they NEVER pass to the point there is a re deal. NEVER! My partner bids or ups my bid when he doesn't have the cards. The oponents play trump when they shouldn't. But with all that the game can be enjoyable and is still the best 500 game I've found so far.

N70%
by N####:

Very customizable to suit "house rules" as you are use to playing. My only complaint is you can't set for miss deals (no face, no ace, or no joker at your partners discretion and/or no 7 bid) and you can turn off auction biding.

N70%
by N####:

I don't get how others are calling this a realistic version of the game, I must have learnt a different 500 game half a century ago because if my partner consistently out bid me or consistently trumped back at me, we wouldn't be partners for long - and yes I've tried every partner. Very annoying and frustrating for those that REALLY know how to play the game.

N70%
by N####:

However, if I may, I've noticed in my 3 months of playing that if I have the joker in my hand, let's say on a 7 NT bid, it doesn't allow me to play it as a Trump card. And, in my most recent case, at the end of the hand, I played it as trump and it gave it to the other team. I have been playing 500 for years, so I know the rules. Can you please look at fixing this? But definitely a great game!

N70%
by N####:

It has some faults but generally plays a tough game. Partner occasionally over bids and irrational.

N70%
by N####:

Well done - realistic options and the computer players seem to know how to play 500. Thank you - I'll keep your game installed.

Good game play, customizable and reasonable logic. Enough for a time waster

N70%
by N####:

Very good game,

Z70%

Game play is good. The AI players make smart plays. And I enjoy the setting customization. However, some additional customization I would like to see: Changing the point value of misere hands. Adding grand misere, where both tean players play the misere hand. Allowing to make six bids unable to go for the round, as in must have a seven bid to play the hand.

K70%
by K####:

This game is so irritating. The partner always bids every hand and loses at least half the time. He will even out bid his partner. You can have a great hand and the partner bids. Takes any enjoyment out of playing.

N70%
by N####:

This is the worst written app I have ever down loaded. Your partner bids 7 or 8 with out left, right or Joker, also leads back trumps regardless of having 3 aces. Also bids 6 with queen, seven and six. Wins 2 tricks.

Z70%
by Z####:

This is so much better than the previous 500 app I had been playing. Very impressed with the standard of play. Just played a hand where my partner (John) bid 8 clubs, lost 2 early tricks then proceeded to win the hand and the game. Well played John!

Z70%
by Z####:

Great game mechanics and looks but buggy behaviour for jokers in no trumps and misere hands basically kills it for me.

O70%
by O####:

Found a good version of this game finally.

Z70%
by Z####:

Really good version with statistics and run of hands

H70%
by H####:

Lots of fun. And fair players.

Z70%
by Z####:

500 is the best cards game and this is the best app I've tried that tries to recreate it. The AI are ok but always lead trumps regardless of anything else. They also bid the same suit as opponents rather than letting them lose the bid. Small bug: i played a freakishly long game of 23 hands but the statistics are capped at 20. UI is pretty good but could use some small improvements eg when successful bid is made you can't see the number of tricks bid for as its hidden by the discarded kitty.

Z70%
by Z####:

Great implementation of this game. I've played a lot of 500 in the past this comes pretty close to playing against real people. It's not perfect, like when your partner leads trumps even when you haven't won the bid and they only have low trumps. Otherwise it would be 5 stars

B70%
by B####:

Work yet to be done to perfect. I open 7 diamonds and partner bid 8 spades. Plainly the bid from partner should be 8 diamonds or pass. And in both my partner and opposition they continue leading trumps when opposition has none. Most annoying and loses games for NO reason. AND THE WORST is opposition leading trumps.

R70%
by R####:

Thd game play seems great so far. There's a visual glitch after the cards are dealt. When you swipe them to put them in order some of the cards get hidden behind the others. Once you play a card the problem rights itself.

L70%
by L####:

I am not an experienced card player, but I love this. It has great graphics, loads of options and great ai. You can choose your playing partner and your opponents which is fantastic. A game which has been very well thought out and implemented. Highly recommended.

Z70%
by Z####:

Its okay game

K70%
by K####:

This game needs to be multilayer/online single player gets old... and the Joker in no trump and nelow needs to be fixed I am in a no trump game right now it's the last to tricks and I have the joker and the 8 of clubs they played a heart it won't let me play the Joker it says "the Joker must be the first or last card of the suit" and I can't play the 8 because it says "you must follow suit if you can".. otherwise it would be a 5 star game

Y70%
by Y####:

Guys the team mate bids and plays like a complete idiot. I get that you need algorithms for it to work but they're set all wrong for both bidding and playing order of cards. You could teach a 4 year old not to bid 7 or 8 of a suit without either bower or the Joker and to use up trumps to draw out high offsuits at the end of a hand so I'm sure you can program this app to do it. I'm playing with John vs Ken and Kim. They play like they don't understand the game.
