Story
You are a Sheriff, a member of one of the last peacekeeping forces in a slowly dying world. Your weapons are the sword, the gun, and the psychic arts. Someone has burnt your lodge to the ground and killed your fellow Sheriffs. You mean to find out why. But an army of bandits, zombies, and feral creatures stand in your way. You'll need to keep your wits about you if you intend to survive.

What is a Roguelike?
A roguelike is an RPG with permanent death (if you die, you have to start over) and randomly generated levels. Roguelikes are fun because every game is different and they can be played in long or short sessions. Examples include classics such as Angband or NetHack and newer games like Binding of Isaac or Dungeons of Dredmor.

Gravebound also has elements from strategy or tactics/tactical RPGs, particularly the Fire Emblem series. Gravebound was made for fans of roguelikes, tactical RPGs, dungeon crawlers, old school RPGs, board games, and adventure gamebooks. So give it a try!

This is the free (ad-supported) version. You will have to watch a full screen video ad when starting or continuing a game. If you'd like to remove the ads, please upgrade to the paid version (link below). Please finish your current game before upgrading.

Permissions
-Internet connection permission is for sending anonymous crash data. No internet connection is required to play. Perfect for the car/plane/train/bus!
-Read/write storage, view network connection, and vibrate permissions are required by the ad framework. You will not find these in the paid version.

Achievements
-Achievements are tracked through Google Play Services. On launch, Google will ask you if you'd like to sign in. You are free to decline, but this will disable achievements. All other aspects of the game are accessible. An Internet connection is required to update achievement progress on the achievements page. Your achievements will carry over to the paid version if you upgrade!

Updating
-Saves are not guaranteed to persist between versions. Please finish your current game before updating.

Glad to see this updated finally, even if just a graphics overhaul. If you can't be bothered to add new areas and elements, you could at least add a quick rebirth system for people that beat it multiple times. Same monsters and gear, but each rebirth has better gear and harder monsters. Would be nice if discovered potions and stats persisted for a stronger feeling of accomplishment.

Can't save game, unbalanced. Sometimes you die quickly, sometimes you can last, it's so random.

Good game. Is it supposed to just end after killing the bug monster in the cave and going to the exit? Told me my adventure would continue bit just went to the title screen to start a new game. Not sure if that's all there is at this point or if it bugged out. Movement is brutal after getting a 2nd guy. Maybe make them move as one when out of combat or like a snake so the screen is not jumping between them two times every movement.

Bought this game when it had less than 5 downloads. I dislike the new graphics which remind me of Farmville and give it a less idependant/personal feel. Over the two years since the last update, the game has no ending and gives you a weapon for beating the final boss that you can not use due to the abrupt ending. Very dissatisfied.

im really liking this game so far. I love the classic feel and its a great pass time. however, I feel like it could be improved in several ways. I think you should be able to know what each "potion" does after you use it once, it gets really confusing. some music would be nice as well. but overall its amazing!!

Can't go to next floor with ally. I can exit the cave to shop but when i go back to the second cave, i some how get stuck can't move at all. Have to play new game. Going to get him killed on my next try. Good game though. I like it.

I.e. moving 3 tiles forward and 2 across, movement code should treat that as 2 movements, I feel like it treats every tile as separate movement, causes tiny pause at arrival at tile center before starting next tile movement. This gives an overall choppy feeling.

There is a fine line between a tough, challenging game and one that is simply badly designed. You will cautiously and tactfully make choices here, use weapons and spells in the best way possible just to randomly die 10 minutes later.

You can see the TRPG influence, it looks nice and controls well, but the gameplay itself is lacking. It's so hard you just end up doing the same thing over and over in the hope of getting a decent item or two, it gets tedious fast. The writing at the start is great, you should write text adventures instead!

The art is beautiful, and the game easily hits some RPG instant gratifications. Unfortunately, the game is basically just the same level over and over again. There is no long term playability, there are no real challenges left over, and no real goal to build up to. It's the bottle rocket of RPGs. And that's no incentive to pay for an unlock.

Played the game about 20 times, gets boring playing same level over and over. Never made it past second cave and then you have to start all over. It's an interesting concept, but without a save option long term playing is minimal

Great game. Hope you add movement animation. Same for combat. The biggest problem is no sound. A cool western for the topside and some other cool sound track for the other places to. And some key sounds for when ur in combat or just picking up items.

Just started but... wow is it hard to stay alive. Everything damages me at least once before I kill it, and you've only got one piece of food to get back part of your HP once. Bandages maybe, or a sleeping bag to recover between fights?

Really diggin the new Western look to the game, but it still desperately needs sound. No music is fine but sound effects of some sort are badly needed. Keep up the good work and never stop improving this game!

Keep it up its a great game but for some reason my resolution is to big so i cannot play it on my new(er) phone

Like the style, the idea and the gameplay. Only fault is the reward system. Too little powerups, too little food, and it should be possible to sell bottles to find its purpose. Loosing points by testing every potion makes the game almost impossible. It should also be able to gain food after all enemies at a certain level have been defeated. That said, it is addictive, fun and challenging. Thanks.

skills take way too long to recharge. Way too long. And the random tonic thing... Half of them f you up! Whats the point? There should be some rhyme or reason to that, like keywords that give a clue as to the nature of the contents. C'mon, if a bottle of mystery juice smells funky, for example, chances are its bad... idk. Also, enemies are very predictable. But, i like that youve really steered clear of majic. Bonus, cuz its hard to make an rpg thesedays without it. Love the theme, love the genre. If you make moving sprites, awesomer, and the ability to cancel a move by redirecting the character. Hey, i like your styleman good job, hope this constructive critique helps improve your game! Peace!

This game is preally fun, but it crashes after i beat the insect boss. The first time, the game flat out crashed. The second time, it would let me kill the little minions the insect boss summons, but woulf freeze when after i kill two minions. It's really fun otherwise.

If you have any experience with rogue-like games, then you will find this one unchallenging. Entertaining for a little bit but quickly loses its replay value. Pros: open world exploration, sanity balance combat system, allies. Cons: not enough dungeons (only two) , easy combat, too few shop items (have literally accumulated so much gold at times that it's use is pointless. ) short storyline and lack of details.

Although I'm not sure I like the movement system, this is the second rougelike I've played that hasn't scared me off. I like the idea of the old timey tonics boosting stats, damaging health, or reducing stats; it felt unique. Heh, I had thought the tonics were randomized each time, much to my surprise (soon death in some cases). I recommend it for beginners to rougelikes (like myself).

It is way to easy to die it is to hard to get items/money and a few times it spawned me in the middle of about 10 bears
