About Word Count Camera
Word counter that reads & counts not only digital text, but also handwriting from images.
Designed with students in mind, this app will help you monitor the amount of words you write for essays so that you don't go over the maximum word count. It estimates the amount of words on a page using powerful computer vision technology, and can be used as a reference in various different situations to save you time and effort.
It also counts standard digital text (copy & paste), but unlike other word counters it doesn't just count the number of spaces- it uses regular expressions to provide a more accurate number.
Currently, the application is still in it's earliest form, so there will be some degree of inaccuracy for images (~10 words on the slower mode). If the algorithm struggles to read the text, it will issue a warning to you regarding the legitimacy of output.
I intend to improve upon this over time with updates, but I need your help to do so. If you find an image that produces a wildly inaccurate word count, please send me the image to 07mprice@gmail.com and I will use that to assist me for the next update. Thanks!

The app is very good using image recognition technology for calculating words in handwritten texts. I doubted downloading this seeing ratings, but this is good enough. It gives around 15-20 words extra in my analysis. Make sure you take d pic properly when using this app. Take the pic of only the page with text excluding background.

I know you have good inentions for this app and when I saw it today, I was like thank you God for this app, because I've got an essay to write of 1200 - 1600 words. of course I first tested the app to see if the camera part works and it's quite disappointing that it didn't give me an accurate word count. But I'm sure you'll get the app to work properly. Still a fantastic idea.

Highly inaccurate. I tried swvwral ti es w a text and word count given ranged from 20-204. The actual count was 145.

Useful app, especially for essays

Scanned a photo. It said there was only 9 words on it. Scanned it again it said there was 49 when in actual fact there was 163.
