About Color Blind Pal
Color Blind Pal helps people who are color blind see the colors around them. It also lets people with normal vision see what it's like to be color blind.
Want to know what color something is? Now you don't need to ask a friend - just open the Color Inspector to get a descriptive name, like "bold brown".
Want to see all colors more clearly? Use the Color Filter to shift colors that are hard to distinguish toward colors that you can easily distinguish. It'll be as easy for you to spot an orange pumpkin in a green field as it is for everyone else. Or, do you have normal color vision and want to know what someone who's color blind sees? The Color Filter can also simulate any type of color blindness. Open the preferences (with the ⓘ button) to select your color blindness type.
Press "Inspecting Color" or "Filtering Colors" to switch between the two modes.
Simply open the app and point your device's camera at what you want to see! If someone gives you a green form and a yellow form and asks you to fill out the green one, open the Color Inspector to tell which is which. If you're struggling to read a color-coded map, use the Color Filter to make the colors easy to distinguish.

This is a great app, functions very similarly to the competitors but I find it is easier and quicker to identify colours properly. For instance, I used this because I have a lung infection and was coughing up blood. I wasn't sure if it was brown or red though. The other apps identified it as being both red and brown in different takes. However, this one identified it as red 90% of the time.

Downloaded this for my bf who was looking at Van Gogh's self portrait in Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum. My bf is colour-blind and particularly can't work out impressionist paintings. This app totally changed his experience of the gallery! The smile on his face was the best. Thank you for making this app!

I am red/green colorblind, and I literally had tears of joy in my eyes when I looked through the screen. I asked my family members if it looked like the actual colors, and I couldn't believe it. The developers of this app truly don't know how grateful, I'm sure, others are, like I am. Thank you. This is beautiful.

I think the negative ratings reflect the fact people haven't read the help section. I have a particularly strong deuteranopia and my only issue with the app is that it doesn't seem to retain the settings for things like colour filter when you close and return. Would it be possible to use the light sensor to adjust the estimation of the colour? What appears brown on the screen is often something yellow in low light.

Really neat app, the only issue I'm having is that I find it very difficult to accurately position the sampling "crosshair". Would be cool if we could drag it with the centerpoint offset from the touch point. Or just have it not centering on the fingertip obscuring the point I wish to identify.

Simple, easy to use app. I am red/green color blind. I point my phone camera at the battery light on any charger & the app quickly tells me if the light is red or green.

This app is very eye-opening excuse the pun. I've always wanted to see the world like this. To experience what others see on a daily basis. Even though I don't have to go through the daily struggle of being color blind. I can appreciate this condition even more now. Thank you!

Has no workable or useable purpose. I attempted to use this to detect color stripes on resistors and control wiring. Without a zoom function by the time you get the wire close enough to fill even the smallest sample it only detects cocoa or dark brown on any color. Adding a zoom funtion people could really use in hvac, electrical, controls, and circut board trades making it very very useful. Only an entertainment app at this point. I could care less what colors im missing out on unless I need them for work so my disability doesnt hold me back.

I have tritanomaly and I am a chemist, so I use this app to determine the color of my solutions. Having the name is great but I really would love if there were a way to get the hex color code or rgb color code of what i was analyzing so I could have something substantial to record and offset my color blindness.

I'm a moderate deutan so greens are weak for me (and obviously it throws off reds, oranges, etc). This app is pretty cool. Obviously due to limitations, this app can only shift colors, so choosing a type of color blindness won't fix ALL the colors (it seems choosing green weakness boots green at the expense of reds). But I can see reds so I wasn't super pressed about that. The amount of greens though... Wow. This app immediately helps with my gardening. Thanks so much for making this!!

There are many apps like this one, but this one really stands out to me. For one, it requires only camera permission (whereas some ask for too much). It also let's one filter out a certain color. This allowed me to actually see the numbers in the colorblind tests I looks up for the first time (through the app, of course). I would highly recommend this app. It is full of features, low on permissions, and very low on storage size.

This app is a misleading piece of crap. I downloaded it so my friend could experience more than 2 colors. All it did was tell him the colors and did nothing to correct his vision. This app did the job I could do only it took longer and also sucked harder.

This program has pretty much saved my job. While the filter doesn't seem to work *amazing*, the inspecting color works fantastic! Just be careful of the surrounding colors, light temperature will definitely affect results!
