used to work butt having to reinstall again and again dull to the licence bug. happens to limits cycles that need for some games after 80s as they run slows.

Neat little tool to get your tablet to run old dos games. Don't expect a hand-holding experience; you will have to look it up and it might take about an hour to set up the first time, but it will work. Currently using it to play Master of Magic on it and, besides a few control hardships, it's a pretty fun experience. There are also a lot of people complaining that the product has been abandoned by the devs. Ironic, seeing as the latest version of DOSbox is from 2010. There are other free versions around as well, if you'd rather not pay for it, but if you do, expect a very good experience yet slightly difficult learning curve. My only major beef with it is the top-bar on the screen containing the keyboard/joystick/buttons shortcuts and how difficult it can be at times to hide after it's been displayed during gameplay.

Fallout 2 runs great.Lots of customization and mapping of controls and gestures.Wish you could manually arrange the button layout though, maybe I might have missed that option?Nonetheless works like a charm for the said game.

Niece piece of saw, but could be better on Archos gamepad, because of you can't map 2 analog sticks in button manager, one is detected like classic dpad, second isn't detected. In need to map at least 1 stick for playing games for mouse and keyboard.. Last build is very old.

A few years ago I gave this a low rating because the licence verification seemed to need me to be connected to the internet EVERY TIME i started the program. Looks like this is no longer the case. Its fast, easy to use and supports all the functionality that the windows version has.

If you install this and "Hackers Keyboard" (it gives you ESC,CTRL,DEL ALT plus F1-F12) you have an actual DOS PC in your pocket! I can now brag that I coded and compiled Fortran,Cobol and Bascom programs on my 'droid! I love the '80s!

I have spent hours trying to get Colonization to work on this app with no end in sight. I have followed several guides and followed fixes on forums yet all i get is a black screen and some clicking sounds if im lucky. I would love to give this a 5 star if it could do what ot is supposed to :(

Finally worked out how to mount and open the folder with my game, but how do I run the program? There is no run or execute command avaliable?

Very nice and smooth app. Could be full on 5 stars, but there's an issue with most of the games when my coursor, or joystick (both virtual) keeps getting towards top-left corner. Although i can move it, after i stop, it comes back to top-left corner. I couldn't find how to solve it. Tried fiddling with input methods and no luck. I have Nexus tab 2012. What do i do?

Tried Theme Hospital and Dungeon Keeper. Both worked (dungeon keeper is very slow even on my quad core s4), but even so, it is impressive to see them even running at all. With more performance options and updates, and better controls (on screen mouse?) this could be a great app.

Great emulator, probably the best however as always if you are new to emulators it's pretty tricky to get games working is you are NOT rooting from a pc. If you are struggling I can only suggest downloading a file manager and creating a folder called dos on to your Sdcard then changing the directory within dosbox from: storage/emulator/0/downloads To storage/emulator/0/dos Then create separate folders within /dos for your separate games (making sure the folder names are no longer than 8 letters long) and move your downloaded games into the folders. Open dosbox and C drive should be running from your new dos directory, from here you type the command: cd dune (example of file name within dos) And then type the games execution file, example duneprg.exe (for dune) And off you go. You will have to look through the games folder and work out the execution file yourself. I hope that helps someone because this is an amazing emulator.

I commend Dosbox Turbo of having the easiest way of installing Windows and supporting 3Dfx/voodoo. Definitely brings a lot of titles from the early 2000 and before being able to run. Sadly the UI is complicated beyond belief and not very user friendly, controller/keyboard wise especially. Magic Dosbox allows you to change settings in the fly, have widgets/keyboard keys anywhere on screen and highly configure to your needs, and has a completely transparent keyboard built in - all this lacking in Dosbox Turbo. You also almost never see DOS (only for installations) or require so much command prompts in Magic Dosbox - something you HAVE TO in Dosbox Turbo. If the UI and control options had a complete overhaul, this would be awesome.

This developer was very responsive and easy to work with! Fishstix worked with me for 2+ days in order to get my game running. He responded to every e-mail and request same day and if he could not provide a fix, he was working with me every step of the way to get this app running on my device. Thanks to the dev, I am playing all my PC faves-Rise of the Triad, Blake Stone, Quake, Doom, and Wolfenstein!!!! I have all of the devs apps and love every 1 of them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

This app is the best version of DOSBox for Android. It has run every game I've thrown at it. Not only that, it has support for Windows 9x. If you have a powerful device, you can run Windows 95 or 98, and run games for Windows 95 or 98. This app allows a great amount of control customization, which means that a Bluetooth controller or keyboard isn't required. That said, I highly recommend a Bluetooth keyboard, especially for complicated games.

EDIT: keep getting license check fail, WTF??? Without a doubt the best dosbox app for android. Great tech support by the developer and constantly getting updates. If you want to play old dos games on an android device this app is a must have. The manager program is just icing on the cake. Thanks for such a wonderful app!

I'm having a really excellent time with this via my Nvidia Shield. It's letting me play some clunkier older games with more comfortable controls. The only things I feel are missing is the ability to adjust the Button overlay's opacity, and a way to have the analog sticks register as, say, a different button in each direction. I've gotten around some of the input mapper's limitations via clever use of the Nvidia Shield's built-in functions, but it's still not perfect.

by S####:

WHY IS THERE NO TRIGGER DETECTION ON GAMEPADS? I mean really, that's annoying as hell. You can't use the trigger buttons on any game pad, only the bumpers and other keys. That's an awful waste considering most gamepads for android have them now. This definitely needs an update so it will work with moga/shield trigger buttons.

S70%
by S####:

Mostly everything is OK with it but the controller support is lacking, making it frustrating to truly enjoy this app. Left joystick doesn't work for movement, only a dpad, and the triggers on Mad Catz C.T.R.L.R don't even register at all, although a DualShock 4's triggers do for some reason. I would love to see these issues addressed and use this app at its best. Playing old DOS shooters like Blood is awesome on my phone. Just needs better quality controller support.

S70%

SD Card support on lollypop not really working as it should (except the android/data folder), stylus support terrible due to scaling, touchpad mouse could need improvement. Graphic layer worse (black screen sometimes) than Dosbox on PC.

Love this, best DOSBox version on the market. Wish it had compatibility with the hardware keyboard on my BlackBerry Priv though. Only recognizes left and right shift and enter. would love to use letters for arrow keys. Just allow us to map software keyboard letters and we'll be good. I do understand the limitation for typing though. Maybe have a quick toggle to go between typing and mapped?

I have been using this app for some years now and I find it amazing how versatile it is and how far its come since I first started using it. I have tried other dos emulators and I keep coming back to this one because its fast and highly configurable. There is a very helpful website that describes all features. I have been able to games with touch controls and bluetooth gamepad profiles.

App is great. But please please please add External SD card capability (4.4+) to use the External SD for placing the DOS files under. Right now, it is really too limited and would be good if I can give it all access to the External SD card to save internal storage space (premium). Thanks

Well adapted version of dosbox to android. Works well and has great features as compared to other free alternatives. I have a feature request, hopefully the author will read this: It would be fantastic if you could implement remote keyboard and mouse from a computer without having to hook up bluetooth/OTG hardware on the phone. Something like having a separate client you install on the PC which forwards keystrokes/mouse movement over to dosbox on the phone.
