Beacon Scan

With the Beacon Scan app, you can scan for nearby proximity beacons using iBeacon™ and AltBeacon™ technology and display their advertising details using an Android device. Additionally, you can modify the region settings to only display beacons from particular regions of your choice.

Scanning for iBeacons and AltBeacons
------------------------------------
Beacon Scan will automatically begin scanning for proximity beacons using iBeacon™ and AltBeacon™ technology. Each beacon discovered is sorted by region and titled with the region’s UUID and meaningful region name, if provided. Additionally, each beacon discovered is displayed with the following details:

-Major
-Minor
-RSSI

Beacon Sightings Report
------------------------
To receive a complete beacon sightings report of all active iBeacons and AltBeacons in range, tap the email icon on the top right of the screen. After selecting your preferred application for email, a fully-drafted message with all active iBeacons and AltBeacons sorted by region will appear.

Reviewing Beacon Scan Settings

To reach the settings page, tap the settings icon on the top right of the screen. The settings page includes:

-Region Name
-Region UUID

To modify a region’s settings, tap on the region of choice and edit the region’s name or UUID. To configure a new region, tap on the + sign on the top right of the screen and enter an appropriate region name and UUID.

Proximity beacons are low-power wireless transmitters that send identifying information to nearby mobile devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (also known as Bluetooth 4.0 and Bluetooth Smart) signaling. Applications on mobile devices can be triggered by these proximity events and can implement behaviors that correspond to entering, traversing or leaving the local region covered by the beacon.
