How to Get a Refund from Google Play? All You Ever Wanted to Know!
Have you ever purchased an app and found it to be not what it claimed it was, or maybe your kid was playing with your phone and made a few accidental purchases? Here is a short guide that will help you get a refund for apps, games, in-app purchases, movies and music you bought on Google Play.
If such is the case and more than 15 minutes have passed, you will need to open the Google Play orders page, located the app on the list, click the menu icon next to the app and select "Report a problem" -> "I'd like to request a refund".
Please have in mind that if you return an app and you decide to purchase it again, you will not be able to get a refund the second time.
Returning paid apps and games
You might not know this, but there are three types of returns on Google Play depending on the time that passed since you purchased the app / game. The first is the 15 minute window when you can return the app and get a full refund no questions asked. The other two are "less than 48 hours after the sale" and "more than 48 hours". Both are processed automatically in 99% of the cases and you will be refunded the whole amount you paid for the app or game. Not that long ago the same process would require opening a dispute and validating the claim, but recently it seems like Google decided to remove the human factor from most of the cases and take the side of the user. What about in-app purchases?
The main difference between buying apps and in-app purchases is that the 15 minute window rule is not applied due to reasons I think you are well familiar with, especially with in-app purchases in games. If for some reason you are not satisfied with the in-app purchase you made, Google suggest that you contact the developer to resolve the issue. Refunds in this case are generally resolved in favor of the developer.Google Play Movies & TV
As stated on the support pages, Customers have the ability to return or cancel their purchase anytime within 7 days (10 business days for users in Italy, 14 days for users in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Sweden) of purchase if they have not begun playback. How to request a refund?
If you are returning an app within the 15 minute window after you made the purchase, just open the Google Play app on your device go to "My App" select the app you want to return and click "Refund", it is as simple as that. If you do not return the app after 15 minutes the Refund button will be changed to Uninstall but uninstalling the app will not give your money back.If such is the case and more than 15 minutes have passed, you will need to open the Google Play orders page, located the app on the list, click the menu icon next to the app and select "Report a problem" -> "I'd like to request a refund".
